Scott Cerasoli

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

cerasoliThere are some great reasons to start your own company. And beyond the obvious – a chance to pursue your passions and make family a priority – the opportunity to build an enterprise from scratch is one of the most powerful. At least that’s been true for Scott Cerasoli, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company he co-founded with Rob Troska in the spring of 2001.

After a decade in the staffing industry, Scott had a clear vision for the business, even though he didn’t predict how fast it would grow.

“After seeing how this industry worked, I set out to create an IT staff augmentation company that would consistently deliver on its promises,” says Scott. “It’s no accident we make a big deal of the importance of commitments and execution. We’ve been honored to serve some of the very best companies in the market and employ some of the most talented professionals anywhere; and those things don’t happen without consistently delivering value to both clients and employees.”

As the architect of Vision’s growth – over 65 percent annually since day one, with recognition as fastest growing and one of the largest IT companies in the region – Scott, too, has sought to grow. In 2008 he turned his focus from the day-to-day operations toward the long-term future of the business and expansion throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Scott’s belief that he, along with a talented team of leaders, could build an industry leader, took root before he founded Vision Technology Services. As Managing Director of a regional IT project and services company he joined in 1997, he helped engineer its growth and purchase in 1999 by Metro Information Services, a publicly traded $300 million IT company. As Metro’s Vice President of Sales, Scott opened the Baltimore division, driving sales and managing large partnerships. He lifted his division’s annual revenue 5,200 percent in four years – from a half million in 1997 to $26 million by 2001. By the summer of that year, Metro’s Baltimore Division had earned the top spot in The Baltimore Business Journal’s ranking of the area’s largest IT consulting firms.

“Managing a company is a lot like managing an IT project,” says Scott. “The key is talent and a clear vision for what the group can achieve together. After that, it’s a matter of great execution and a little luck. I’ve enjoyed being around people who are good at producing both.”

The people Scott enjoys being around most are his wife and two children. And when he’s not working hard on behalf of his clients and employees, there’s an even chance he’s trying to combine family and golf.
