Position Description

Required Skills:

- Working knowledge of database design, optimization, and troubleshooting, as well as Microsoft SQL 2008, 2005.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software such as Project Manager, Access, Word and PowerPoint preferred.
- Strong project management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or other relevant field.
- Minimum of 4 years directly related work experience in Database Administration and Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing in an environment with multiple production databases. Prefer experience with SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
- Prior hands-on professional experience must include an overall knowledge of database design, optimization, and troubleshooting, as well as Microsoft SQL 2008, 2005.
- Other relevant education and/or experience may be substituted.

Position Description:

The Database Administrator works with other DBAs, report writers, and project teams to refine reporting requirements and design and implement all database related applications and processes for the Business Intelligence Platform. A high emphasis is placed on analytics, OLAP, and analysis cube design. Note: Incumbent must be willing and able to work some weekend hours to complete system maintenance tasks.

• Designs and implements databases using Microsoft SQL 2008.
• Performs administration of database servers, including production, development, testing, and training machines.
• Supports deployment of all software applications.
• Supports backup and recovery procedures.
• Performs replication, index maintenance, and maintenance of standby servers.
• Monitors system performance and optimize/tune stored procedures and indexes.
• Designs database schemas, writes stored procedures, and triggers.
• Provides documentation about database/data warehouse structures.
• Troubleshoots and isolates performance problems in production databases.
• Creates ad hoc SQL queries.
• Designs and implements data transformation rules. Follows coding policies and standards as well as configuration management/version control policies.
• Designs procedures for maintaining and refreshing data on an ongoing basis.
• Integrates large data files and databases from disparate systems.
• Performs Data Mining and cleansing on large historical databases.
• Implements, updates, and maintains all aspects of Microsoft SQL 2008 and 2005.
• Evaluates and implements new hardware and software.
• Performs other related duties as required.
